The previously scheduled sentencing date (July 7th, 2014) set for Marcelo Co in regards to his guilty plea which was arranged via a plea deal between Marcelo Co and the United States Attorney was rescheduled by stipulation, for December 15th 2014 at 2:00 p.m. Court Room 1, in the George E. Brown, Jr. Federal Building and United States Courthouse located at 3470 Twelfth Street in the City of Riverside.
As stated in the stipulation between the United States Attorney, Marcelo Co and his Attorney Brian Newman, this postponement of sentencing, was needed for the following reasons:
“The investigation in this matter is ongoing. Defendant continues to cooperate with the government. Both parties agree that a continuance to December 15, 2014 is necessary to ensure that defendant is given a full opportunity to cooperate in connection with the government’s investigation and for the parties and the Court to fully evaluate his level and quality of cooperation, pursuant to the terms of his plea agreement.”
Note: This delay in sentencing is not how others have portrayed it, as a mere need of Marcelo Co to get his “personal things in order” before he is sentenced.
Marcelo Co is also due to appear before the court in another matter regarding The People of The State of California vs. Marcelo Co, in Riverside Superior Court on July 23rd, 2014 at 8:30 a.m., in Dept. 41, under case number RIF1302929 (a felony case) for charges of benefits fraud and grand theft.
